Non-healing wounds or chronic wounds are wounds that do not heal in a systematic set of steps and wounds that do not heal in an estimated time or within two or three months are often considered chronic wounds.

Chronic wound patients often describe the pain as a major factor in their lives. Persistent pain is the main problem for patients with chronic ulcers.
