What is Hypospadias?

Hypospadias is a relatively uncommon disorder that involves incomplete closure of the urethral groove under the penis. Normally, sex plays a dual role in men by providing a pathway for urine to exit the bladder and for semen to enter the vagina. Both functions are facilitated when the opening of the urethra (the meatus) is usually located at the tip of the head of the penis (the glans).
